Eliberto Cantu, a construction worker and resident of Lubbock in Texas, bought his Mega Millions ticket on March 30th at the 'All Stop Valero' gas station located in Stuttgart, Arkansas. The Texan matched all six main numbers drawn on Friday March 31st, which were; 17, 24, 27, 32, 58 and Mega Ball 10.
The win is the first Mega Millions jackpot win for Arkansas and makes Eliberto Cantu the 55th player to claim a prize over $1 million on an Arkansas Scholarship Lottery game.
Lottery officials reported that Eliberto Cantu, a regular lottery player, will use his winnings to travel with his family and to help rebuild churches near his home. His son also commented on the win, admitting they "still don’t believe it is real."
The Texan opted to take the cash lump sum of $72.9 million, rather than the full amount paid out over 29 years. The previous Mega Millions jackpot winner, Jack Freney, who purchased his $191 million-winning ticket in Nipton, California, also chose the cash lump sum option. He received a payout of $114.1 million, less federal taxes.
Other big winners on the night of the Friday March 31st drawing included a $1 million ticket sold in New Jersey.
Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $15 million. Tickets are available from authorized retailers or players can opt to choose their numbers online. Good luck!
